I believe:
- Writing is thinking
- Almost all ideas are interlinked
- Almost all ideas evolve over time
- You forget ideas you don't act upon
This microblog is intended to serve as a digital garden for my own thoughts and ideas.
The idea behind digital gardens (also known as “working notes”) is to share a subset of your personal notes publicly, in a contextually linked interface. It works as:
- A medium for thinking → where you can articulate and connect ideas
- A medium for sharing → where you can quickly publish & hyperlink ideas
- A medium for compounding → where ideas can be iterated & built upon over time
- A medium for continuous intellectual practice → where ideas do not ever get old
The concept of hyperlinking isn’t new, but the approach of combining evergreen notes together to present complex ideas is not yet popular. The aim is to maintain a knowledge management system for as long as I can. And through which I can learn, write, think clearly, and think independently.
Additionally, the working notes themselves become valuable assets that contribute to your other bodies of work. For example, once a note is live, you can just quickly reference your take anywhere on the internet! In my experience, this sparks interesting conversations, and makes it easier to make friends online.
An alternative to this would be wait until I have enough data to write the perfect essay for every complex idea, which causes lots of ideas to never see the light of day.
